Yosemite – San Francisco Cycling


Our journey takes us from the mountains of the eastern edge of this bronzed and beautiful Golden State to the Pacific Coast and into the internationally loved city of San Francisco.

We kick off our epic California adventure in one of the world’s most celebrated national preserves, the monumental Yosemite National Park, which lies tucked within the sprawling Sierra Nevada mountain range. With its massive granite peaks and cliffs, towering forests, roaring waterfalls, sparkling lakes, and lush meadows, Yosemite captures the hearts and adventurous spirits of all its visitors.

From Yosemite we cycle 235 miles (380 km) in five days over challenging mountain roads, down into famed valleys, and onto the sweeping western plains. We finish this stunning bike ride in the only way an unforgettable trip such as this could end: riding across the Golden Gate Bridge into the heart of San Francisco.




Upon arrival we are met by our guides and transferred to our overnight hotel in Oakdale, between San Francisco and Yosemite National Park.

After an early breakfast, we arrive in Yosemite National Park. After pitching camp in beautiful Yosemite Valley, we have lunch before doing a bike fit. Next we take on a short ride offering views of famous Yosemite landmarks like Yosemite Falls, Half Dome, and El Capitan. At camp we enjoy dinner and a full briefing on the challenge ahead.

After breakfast, we break camp and begin our epic cycling challenge with a big ascent on quiet Route 120 West. The scenery changes to farmland and small towns before lunch, then we take in views over beautiful pine-covered Lake McClure. The remaining ride takes us over flat roads to our camp on the shores of Turlock Lake.

Today is our longest day in the saddle, so we start early, riding past Turlock Lake and over Robert Ferry’s Bridge. Our route is mostly long, flat, and straight with some undulations. After lunch we remain on quiet country lanes, finishing our ride at the popular fishing spot of Comanche Lake. Our camp is nestled among cottonwood and eucalyptus trees.

ELEVATION: 1,289-foot elevation gain


After breakfast we ride uphill through the San Joaquin Valley until Clements Town, where vineyards abound and the road flattens out. We then pass over the Sacramento River, following it to Walnut Grove, where we stop for lunch at a local vineyard to sample wine and produce. We then transfer by van to Rohnert Park.

After a good night’s rest, we cycle toward the Pacific Coast. The excitement of seeing the ocean will drive your pedals forward as the scenery changes. We stop for lunch in Tomales Bay near a local oyster farm (tastings available!). From there the rolling coastline takes us all the way to Olema, our finishing point for today.

We start with a tough ride to Bolinas Lagoon and famous Stinson Beach. Our ride becomes steep and winding as we follow the coastline before lunch at a stunning viewpoint. Our final ascent takes us through Muir Woods, then we ride the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. Our hotel and celebratory dinner are in the heart of San Francisco.

Enjoy a free morning to explore San Francisco, then prepare to wave goodbye to newfound friends and the Pacific Coast. We transfer to San Francisco Airport for our flight home, taking with us memories that will last a lifetime.
